Section § 60300

Explanation

This law requires that every year, by the second Tuesday in February, the board must conduct an engineering survey and report on the groundwater supplies in the district. This report should include data and assessments like records of water use from the past year, analysis of any water deficits (overdrafts), and estimates for current and future water conditions. It also covers groundwater production figures and the changes in water pressure levels, along with their impact on water supplies. Additionally, it provides an estimate of the available water for replenishing the district's groundwater supplies for the coming year, including its source and cost.

Not later than the second Tuesday in February each year the board shall order an engineering survey and report to be made regarding the ground water supplies of the district. The same shall include, among all other information and data which the board may require, the following:
(1)CA Water Code § 60300(1) Records, data and other information for the consideration of the board in its determination of the annual overdraft;
(2)CA Water Code § 60300(2) Records, data and other information for the consideration of the board in its determination of the accumulated overdraft as of the last day of the preceding water year;
(3)CA Water Code § 60300(3) A report, with supporting data, as to the total production of ground water from the ground water supplies within the replenishment district during the preceding water year;
(4)CA Water Code § 60300(4) A report, with supporting data, as to the changes during the preceding water year in the pressure levels or piezometric heights of the ground water contained within pressure-level areas of the replenishment district, and as to the effects thereof upon the ground water supplies within such replenishment district;
(5)CA Water Code § 60300(5) An estimate of the annual overdraft for the current water year and for the ensuing water year;
(6)CA Water Code § 60300(6) An estimate of the accumulated overdraft as of the last day of the current water year;
(7)CA Water Code § 60300(7) An estimate of the total production of ground water from the ground water supplies within the replenishment district for the current water year and for the ensuing water year;
(8)CA Water Code § 60300(8) An estimate of the changes during the current water year in the pressure levels or piezometric heights of the ground water contained within pressure-level areas of the replenishment district, and of the effects thereof upon the ground water supplies within such replenishment district;
(9)CA Water Code § 60300(9) An estimate of the quantity, source, and cost of water available for replenishment of the ground water supplies during the ensuing water year under the provisions of Section 60315.

Section § 60301

Explanation

If a district gets an engineering evaluation with suggested actions and cost estimates, the district board can decide to add this information to an annual engineering report by the second Tuesday in February each year.

If the district has received an engineering evaluation as to any matter within the powers of the district under Section 60224 and containing proposed action or alternate actions and estimated costs, including engineering and legal fees and expenses and district overhead, the board may, not later than the second Tuesday in February of each year, order the inclusion in the engineering survey and report referred to in Section 60300 of a statement of the proposed action or alternate actions and those estimated costs.
