Tell us what you want
A short conversation. No judgment, no jargon.
Filing Shouldn't Be.
We meet you where you are
Nobody plans to be here. Most people find us late at night, holding a question they can't say out loud. Whichever sentence below is yours — that's exactly where we'll start.
Breathe — almost everyone remembers this moment as scarier than it turned out to be. In California there is generally a 30-day window to respond, and preparing responses (the FL-120) is something we do every day. Most people finish theirs in under an hour, with their side of the story ready for the court.
When parents can't agree, the paperwork is where your voice lives. We handle even the most complicated custody, child support, and spousal support requests — and we help you lay out, clearly and calmly, what you're asking the judge for and why it's in your children's best interest.
Amicable divorces are the ones we love most — no fighting, just paperwork to finish. We prepare the full set of forms California expects for an uncontested divorce, and many couples sit down together and get through them in one evening.
That's the most common story we hear — court forms are built to confuse, and putting them off is what most people do. Here, you answer plain questions about your life and we turn them into court-ready paperwork; for most people that takes about an hour. And since California's waiting period generally runs from the day of filing, finishing sooner means it's behind you sooner.
Answer plain questions about your life — we turn them into court-ready forms. Nothing is filed until you say so, it's free to start, and every form carries our 100% court-acceptance guarantee.
Our promise
Divorce is heavy enough without a maze of paperwork, strangers in suits, and a meter running on every tear. We built something kinder.
No forms to decode, no law to learn. You just answer plain questions about your kids, your ex, and what you want — the ones top divorce attorneys helped us write. We turn your answers into paperwork more accurate than most lawyers file.
See how it worksNo legalese. No forty-page PDFs. Just the right form, the right answer, and the right next step — spoken in the language you actually speak.
See the processA flat, honest price that respects your rent, your groceries, and the life you are rebuilding. Free for those who need it most.
See pricingWhy we exist
We built Legalfina because you shouldn't have to spend $4,000 on a lawyer to fill out a form. Attorneys are worth every dollar for the hard stuff — standing up for you in court, fighting a truly contested case. But filing your initial divorce, custody, or restraining-order paperwork isn't that. It's the same court-accepted result, without the bill.
Every situation, held
From a clean uncontested divorce to a restraining order you need filed tonight — every doorway leads to the same steady hand.
Parenting plans that put the kids, not the conflict, first.
Fair numbers, explained. Every line, every month.
Know what's yours — and what's reasonable to ask.
A clean split of the house, the car, the accounts, the dog.
Urgent filings, same-day support. You deserve to be safe tonight.
Establishing rights and responsibilities, without the courtroom drama.
Specific protections — drugs, travel, late pickups — written in.
Move states, move cities, move on — with permission in hand.
The process
A short conversation. No judgment, no jargon.
Every form and every question, answered in plain English you actually understand.
Plain English. Change anything. Ask us anything.
A few plain questions to get started.
Built for California
Family law is local. A filing that flies in San Francisco gets kicked back in San Bernardino. We know the quirks of all 58 California counties — because we've walked into all of them.
One flat price
One honest number for the whole case. Tell us what you're doing — we'll show you exactly what it costs, whether you're filing first or answering your ex's paperwork.
Have Questions?
Questions, honestly answered
If yours isn't here, write us. A human will answer, usually the same day.
We ask you simple uncomplicated questions about your situation and then fill out all your forms. We can even help you file it with the court or submit it electronically on your behalf.
Yes, absolutely. We even support child support, custody of pets, requesting attorney's fees, and even asking that your ex doesn't take the children out of the county/state/country!
Our website helps you accurately fill out your forms -- better than you could fill it out yourself. However, the portions where you write statements and declarations to the court, we highly recommend you have an attorney review what you wrote. An attorney would know best what you should or should not say and the best way to say something that will win over a judge. We offer affordable add-ons where you can hire an attorney to edit what you wrote to have the best impact on the Judge or mediator that is reading it. It will still come out significantly less expensive than visiting an attorney and having them fill out the forms for you and write your requests from scratch.
No — and that's on purpose. We're a licensed and bonded Legal Document Assistant service. We prepare your paperwork; every step of our wizard is reviewed and approved by attorneys licensed in your state. If you'd like one-on-one legal advice, you can add an attorney consultation anytime.
No. You can fill out your forms for free, and only pay once you're ready to download or file. No subscriptions (unless you are on a payment plan). No surprise charges. Just one clear, upfront cost. Keep in mind though that the courts charge a separate filing fee, but if you can't afford that we help you fill out the paperwork to waive those fees.
That is exactly where we come to help. We help you fill out the necessary court forms to get the judge to make a decision based on the information provided, even if your spouse won't agree.
Most states have a six-month waiting period. The sooner you file your paperwork, the sooner that clock starts, and the sooner you can reach a final resolution.
We offer flexible payment options and we also help you fill out fee waivers with the court so you don't have to pay the filing fees.
At any point, for any reason, free of charge. You're never locked into a filing until you're the one who presses "file."
Our wizards handle most complicated requests. You can request an attorney to review your paperwork once you are finished, who can polish and refine it to ensure what you are requesting is being properly conveyed to the judge.
