Section § 8100

Explanation

This law allows the Governor of California to make an agreement with Nevada to foster good relations between both states regarding the Boulder Canyon Project. This initiative includes working out any tax issues related to properties in Nevada used by California for water and electric energy connected to the project.

The Governor shall execute for, in behalf of, and in the name of the State of California, a compact or agreement with the State of Nevada for the purpose of:
(a)CA Government Code § 8100(a) Promoting, fostering, and encouraging a spirit of comity and good will between the people of the State of California and of the State of Nevada with reference to the Boulder Canyon Project.
(b)CA Government Code § 8100(b) Adjusting matters pertaining to the proposed taxation by the State of Nevada, or by political subdivisions thereof, of property which is or will be located in Nevada, and which is or will be used in connection with the impounding, storage, generation, transmission, distribution, or other handling or disposal of water or electric energy produced in connection with Boulder Canyon Project, and which is or will be the property of the State of California or any political subdivision thereof.

Section § 8101

Explanation

This law states that any compact or agreement won't have legal effect in California until the state's Legislature approves it.

No compact or agreement is binding on the State of California until it has been approved by the Legislature of this State.
