The tax-collector is ex officio license-collector, and as license-collector shall collect all county licenses and perform the duties prescribed by law and by the ordinances of the board of supervisors.

This law requires the tax collector to deposit any public money they have collected into the county treasury at least once every month, and obtain a receipt from the treasurer as proof of this transaction.
At least once a month the tax collector shall pay the public money in his hands into the county treasury, taking the receipt of the treasurer therefor.
