Explanation

If a lawsuit is started against a county treasurer for official misconduct, the board of supervisors has the power to temporarily suspend the treasurer. During this period, they can appoint someone else to take over the role. The person they choose must meet certain qualifications and provide a bond as determined by the board.

Whenever an action based upon official misconduct is commenced against the county treasurer, the board of supervisors may suspend him from office until the suit is determined. The board may appoint some person to fill the vacancy, who shall qualify and give such bond as the board determines.

Section § 27121

Explanation

If the county treasurer passes away, their legal representatives must hand over all the official money, books, accounts, papers, and documents they have to the person who takes over the treasurer's position.

In case of the death of the county treasurer, his legal representatives shall deliver to the person appointed to fill the vacancy all official money, books, accounts, papers, and documents which are or come into their possession.
