Section § 66906.6

Explanation

This law section explains that the governing body is responsible for deciding who is qualified to be the executive officer of an agency. It also sets the officer's salary. Additionally, the governing body can hire the necessary staff according to the State Civil Service Act to help carry out the agency's responsibilities.

The governing body shall determine the qualification of, and it shall appoint and fix the salary of, the executive officer of the agency, and shall employ such other staff pursuant to the State Civil Service Act as may be necessary to execute the powers and functions provided for under this act or in accordance with any intergovernmental contracts or agreements the agency may be responsible for administering.

Section § 66906.7

Explanation

This law says that the conservancy can use its funds, including money received from gifts or renting out property, to pay for expenses. However, only up to 10% of these funds can be used to pay for staff services.

The conservancy’s expenses may be paid out of any conservancy funds, including funds acquired through monetary gifts and from the lease or rental of conservancy property. Not more than 10 percent of the funds thus acquired shall be available for expenditure for staff services.

Section § 66906.8

Explanation

This law allows the conservancy to hire private consultants or contractors to help them fulfill their goals.

The conservancy may select and hire private consultants or contractors to provide services necessary to achieve the purposes of this title.

Section § 66906.9

Explanation

The Tahoe Conservancy Fund has been established to support the goals of the governing title. The money in this fund can only be used when the Legislature specifically allocates it.

The Tahoe Conservancy Fund is hereby created. Any moneys in the fund shall be available for the purposes of this title when appropriated by the Legislature.
