This law section states that unless there is a specific reason not to, the definitions provided in the chapter should be used to interpret this part of the law.

Unless the context otherwise requires, the definitions in this chapter govern the construction of this part.

Section § 4602

Explanation

This section defines an "association" as a nonprofit organization in California that is set up specifically to organize and run a citrus fruit fair.

“Association” means a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of this state for the purpose of and which engages in conducting and carrying on a citrus fruit fair.

Section § 4603

Explanation

This law defines what qualifies as a 'citrus fruit fair' in California. To be considered as such, the fair must be organized by an association and has to run between four and fifteen days each year, continuing for at least twenty consecutive years. Furthermore, the fair should feature citrus fruit displays competing for awards to support and promote the citrus industry in the state.

“Citrus fruit fair” means any citrus fruit fair or citrus fruit fair and exposition which satisfies all of the following requirements:
(a)CA Food And Agriculture Code § 4603(a) Has been conducted and carried on by an association for not less than four or more than 15 consecutive days during each calendar year for a period of not less than 20 consecutive years.
(b)CA Food And Agriculture Code § 4603(b) Citrus fruits are exhibited for prizes and premiums at the fair. The fair has for its purpose the promotion and encouragement of the citrus fruit industry of this state.
