Section § 6880

This section defines a 'frog-jumping contest' as a public event, commonly recognized by that name, which is publicly announced or advertised in a newspaper.

As used in this article, “frog-jumping contest” means a contest generally and popularly known as a frog-jumping contest which is open to the public and is advertised or announced in a newspaper.

Section § 6881

Explanation

If you're planning to use frogs in frog-jumping contests, this rule specifies that these frogs are only subject to the regulations outlined here. You can capture these frogs whenever you want without needing a license or permit.

Frogs to be used in frog-jumping contests shall be governed by this article only. Frogs to be so used may be taken at any time and without a license or permit.

Section § 6882

Explanation

If someone uses a method to catch frogs that could seriously harm them, it's automatically assumed they are not catching the frogs for a frog-jumping contest.

If the means used for taking such frogs can, as normally used, seriously injure the frog, it shall be conclusively presumed the taking is not for the purposes of a frog-jumping contest.

Section § 6883

Explanation

You can have as many live frogs as you want for frog-jumping contests. However, if one of the frogs dies or you kill it, you must destroy it quickly and you cannot eat it or use it for anything else.

Any person may possess any number of live frogs to use in frog-jumping contests, but if such a frog dies or is killed, it must be destroyed as soon as possible, and may not be eaten or otherwise used for any purpose.

Section § 6884

Explanation

This law states that if a frog isn't being cared for in a way that keeps it alive, it's not protected under this article. Basically, to get protection, a frog must be reasonably well-cared for.

A frog which is not kept in a manner which is reasonable to preserve its life is not within the coverage of this article.

Section § 6885

Explanation

This section states that the commission cannot change any part of this article through an order, rule, or regulation.

The commission has no power to modify the provisions of this article by any order, rule, or regulation.
