NetsBait Nets
Section § 8780
This law defines a 'bait net' as a specific type of net made of certain materials. These nets can be used in several designated districts to catch fish for bait. In District 19A, they are specifically limited to catching certain types of fish for live bait purposes, like anchovies and sardines, and can't be used near Seal Beach Pier or Belmont Pier. Additionally, boats using bait nets in District 19A can only have a small portion of other types of bait fish caught incidentally.
Section § 8780.1
This law allows the commission to create rules about how bait nets can be used, based on suggestions from the department.
