Section § 80000

Explanation

This section explains that "Bank on California" is a voluntary program designed to help people in California open bank or credit union accounts and save money. It also establishes the Bank on California Program as part of the department overseeing this initiative.

(a)CA Financial Code § 80000(a) The Legislature finds and declares that “Bank on California” is a voluntary collaborative initiative that assists Californians in opening a bank or credit union account and saving for the future.
(b)CA Financial Code § 80000(b) There is hereby established within the department the Bank on California Program.

Section § 80001

Explanation

This section defines key terms for the division. "Department" refers to the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, and "Program" refers to the Bank on California Program.

For purposes of this division, the following terms shall have the following meanings:
(a)CA Financial Code § 80001(a) “Department” means the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation.
(b)CA Financial Code § 80001(b) “Program” means the Bank on California Program.
