Section § 5000

Explanation

This law section states that meetings for members of an association must follow a set of rules that help organize the discussion, like Robert's Rules of Order or another chosen system. Additionally, every member must be given a chance to speak at the meeting, but there can be a time limit set by the board to ensure the meeting is conducted efficiently.

(a)CA Civil Law Code § 5000(a) Meetings of the membership of the association shall be conducted in accordance with a recognized system of parliamentary procedure or any parliamentary procedures the association may adopt.
(b)CA Civil Law Code § 5000(b) The board shall permit any member to speak at any meeting of the membership of the association. A reasonable time limit for all members to speak at a meeting of the association shall be established by the board.
