Chapter 2Research Concerning Sexual Deviation and Sex Crimes
Section § 8050
This law directs the State Department of State Hospitals to conduct and oversee scientific research on sex crimes against children. It also focuses on developing methods for identifying individuals who commit these offenses.
Section § 8051
This law allows the State Department of State Hospitals to enter into contracts with the University of California's Regents to carry out research projects related to this chapter. The superintendent of the Langley Porter Clinic must recommend these actions.
Section § 8052
This law requires state agencies to work with the superintendent of the Langley Porter Clinic or the University of California. They should assist as much as possible without disrupting their own main functions.
Section § 8053
The State Department of State Hospitals, with approval from the Director of Finance, can accept gifts or grants from any source to help achieve the goals of their chapter. Normally, certain government rules about how money should be handled (like those in Section 16302 of the Government Code) don't apply to these gifts or grants. The money received must be used according to any conditions set by the donor.
