Section § 70120

Explanation

This law section states that districts that are managed under this specific part of the law must follow the rules set out in the Uniform District Election Law, unless there are other instructions provided in the same part.

Except as otherwise provided in this part, districts governed under this part are subject to the provisions of the Uniform District Election Law (Part 4 (commencing with Section 10500) of Division 10 of the Elections Code).

Section § 70121

Explanation

To vote in any district election in the area, a person needs to meet four conditions. They must be a registered voter, live in the district, have their name on the county's most recent assessment roll, and own property assessed within the district boundaries.

In order to vote at any district election, including the formation election, a person must be a qualified elector of the district. A “qualified elector of the district” is one who meets all of the following qualifications:
(a)CA Water Code § 70121(a) He shall be a registered voter.
(b)CA Water Code § 70121(b) He shall reside in the district.
(c)CA Water Code § 70121(c) His name shall appear on the last equalized assessment roll of the county.
(d)CA Water Code § 70121(d) He shall own property assessed within the boundaries of the district.
