Section § 21606

Explanation

This law states that if land is removed from a district after the district has been created, the board has the option to redefine the boundaries of the divisions within the district. However, this must be done at least 120 days before any election takes place in the district.

When land is excluded from a district after its formation, if the board deems it desirable, but not less than 120 days before any election in the district, it may reestablish the boundaries of the divisions within the district.

Section § 21607

Explanation

When new land is added to a district, the district's board must adjust the boundaries of its divisions so that they include the new land and ensure that each division is roughly equal in size and population. This must be done at least 120 days before any district election.

When land is included within a district after its formation, its board shall, not less than 120 days before any election in the district, reestablish the boundaries of the divisions within the district so as to include the included land therein and so as to make the divisions as nearly equal in size and population as may be practicable.

Section § 21608

Explanation

If a piece of land is added to a district less than 120 days before an election, the people living there cannot vote in that upcoming election.

When land is included within a district after its formation and less than 120 days before an election, the voters in the area included shall not be entitled to vote at the election.
