Section § 6500

Explanation

If you're applying to build or enlarge a dam on any stream in California, you must also file a copy of your application with the Fish and Game Commission. This is in addition to the standard application process.

Whenever an application for approval of plans and specifications for a new dam, or for the enlargement of any dam, in any stream in this State, is filed pursuant to Part 1 of this division, a copy of the application shall be filed with the Fish and Game Commission as required by the Fish and Game Code.

Section § 6501

Explanation

This law section refers to the rules and requirements for creating fishways, which help fish move around or over dams in streams. It aims to protect and preserve fish populations in areas where their natural paths are blocked by dams. These provisions are detailed in Chapter 3 of the Fish and Game Code.

The provisions for the installation of fishways over or around dams and for the protection and preservation of fish in streams obstructed by dams are contained in Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 5900), Part 1, Division 6 of the Fish and Game Code.
