Chapter 3Engine Manufacturers
Section § 9980
If a car's engine is made by a different company than the one that makes the car, the car must have a specific label as per another section of the law. A different engine manufacturer means that most of the engine parts or assembly come from someone other than the car maker or its related companies. An 'affiliate' is a company connected to the vehicle maker through direct or indirect control.
Section § 9981
Car manufacturers must put a label on vehicles indicating if the engine was made by a different company. This label should be near the window sticker showing the car's price or features. However, if the engine's manufacturer is already mentioned in the sales paperwork or brochures, the label isn't needed.
Section § 9982
This law applies to new cars and new motor trucks that weigh less than 6,000 pounds when they're empty. It doesn't include vehicles that are like mobile homes.
