Boulevard DistrictsGeneral Provisions
Section § 26000
In this context, the term 'District' specifically refers to a 'boulevard district' unless the context clearly indicates something different.
Section § 26001
This law section defines the term "Commission" as referring to the boulevard commission unless the context makes it clear that it means something else.
Section § 26002
A 'boulevard' is defined as a highway that is between 30 and 100 feet wide. If the boulevard is less than 60 feet wide, railroads or street railroads can't be built or operated on it unless they have special permission from the authority in charge. This does not stop vehicles from driving across the boulevard.
Section § 26003
This law states that district elections must generally follow the same rules as state elections in California, but there are exceptions, especially regarding ballots, nominations, and election officers for district elections. These specific elements are not governed by the state's general election laws.
Additionally, if there are minor mistakes or irregularities in how a district election is conducted, it will not invalidate the election as long as those errors do not significantly harm the voting rights of individuals.
Section § 26004
In every election related to this part of the law, all registered voters who live in the proposed or established district and are eligible to vote in general elections can cast their vote.
