Cooperation by CountiesCooperation Between Cities and Counties
Section § 1710
This law allows a city and a county to make an arrangement where the city is responsible for building, fixing, and taking care of certain county highways located in areas of the county that aren't part of any city. The county will pay the city for these services.
Section § 1711
This law allows a county and a city in California to make an agreement where the county takes responsibility for constructing, fixing, or taking care of certain county roads that fall within the unincorporated areas of the county. The city can pay either all or part of the costs to the county for these services.
Section § 1712
This law allows counties and cities in California to work together on bike routes and paths, whether they are inside or outside city limits. They can share the costs for acquiring land, constructing, maintaining, improving, or repairing these routes. The participating governments will decide how to split the costs through an agreement. The responsibility for carrying out the work also falls to the county, city, or both, as outlined in their cost-sharing agreement.
