Section § 2702

Explanation

This statute allows federally recognized Native American tribes to qualify for federal funding to support transportation projects. Additionally, these tribes can take the lead agency role when managing a transportation project funded by federal money, as long as this is permitted by both federal and state law.

To the extent permitted by federal and state law, a federally recognized Native American tribe shall be eligible for federal funding for a transportation project and may be the lead agency for a transportation project that receives federal funding.
