General ProvisionsGeneral Provisions
Section § 11531
This law section says that a municipal utility district can be formed according to certain rules, and once it's established, it can use the powers that are given to it under this division.
Section § 11532
This law states that anyone holding an office under the specific provisions of Chapter 218 of the 1921 statutes will continue in their role under the same terms as before this new legal division becomes effective.
Section § 11533
This law states that unless specified otherwise, elections should follow the same rules and procedures as those used in general elections in the state. This means everything from holding the election to counting and declaring results should align closely with how general elections are conducted.
Section § 11534
This law states that, unless specified otherwise, any ordinances, summaries of ordinances, and notices that must be publicly shared should be published in a local newspaper that is widely read within the district. They should appear once a week for two consecutive weeks, meaning there should be two publications in total.
Section § 11535
This law states that if a publication is required to be made in a local newspaper and no such newspaper exists within the district, the publication can be made in a newspaper located in any county where the district is located.
Section § 11536
This law states that when a signature from a district officer, employee, Retirement Board member, or Retirement System officer is needed, they can use a pre-made plate with a copy of their signature instead of signing manually. There's one exception outlined in another section, but generally, this makes signing more efficient.
