Explanation

If the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in San Diego stops being used by the federal government, it should be turned into a public open space or greenbelt. The responsibility to manage this area will be taken over by the department mentioned in the statute, as long as federal laws allow for this conversion.

To the extent permitted by federal law, if the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in the County of San Diego ceases to be used as a federal facility, it shall be converted to an open-space area or greenbelt that shall be administered by the department.
