Chapter 1General Provisions
Section § 35000
This section establishes the official name of the division as the Coastal Resources and Energy Assistance Act.
Section § 35001
This law states that it's important for California, working with local governments, to use some of the money earned from offshore energy resources, like oil, to protect and manage the state's renewable ocean and coastal resources.
Section § 35002
This section states that the federal government's rapid and larger offshore leasing for oil and gas, along with similar programs by the State Lands Commission, have increased the pressure on state and local governments. They're finding it harder to effectively plan and manage the ocean and coastal effects resulting from offshore oil and gas development.
Section § 35003
This section explains that the state intends to use some of the money it gets from offshore energy activities to help local areas. Specifically, it aims to provide financial support to coastal counties and cities impacted by energy development, and assist local governments in better managing coastal resources.
