Chapter 4.3Housing Sustainability Districts
Section § 21155.10
This law requires that when a lead agency sets up a housing sustainability district, they have to create an environmental impact report. This report needs to identify possible environmental issues that the new district might cause and suggest ways to lessen these problems. The report should also offer ideas for how housing projects within the district can reduce their environmental impact.
Section § 21155.11
This law section states that certain housing projects in designated housing sustainability districts are exempt from specific regulations if they meet three conditions. First, there must be an approved environmental impact report for the district and approval from the Department of Housing and Community Development within 10 years. Second, the project must comply with the district's specific conditions. Third, the project should have measures in place to address environmental impacts identified in the report.
