Section § 14001

Explanation

This section of the California Insurance Code defines key terms used in the chapter. 'Commissioner' refers to the Insurance Commissioner, and 'Department' means the Department of Insurance. A 'Licensee' is someone who has a license under this chapter, and a 'Manager' is the person responsible for running the business of a licensee. Finally, 'Person' is a broad term that includes individuals and various types of business entities like partnerships and corporations.

As used in this chapter:
(a)CA Insurance Code § 14001(a) “Commissioner” means the Insurance Commissioner.
(b)CA Insurance Code § 14001(b) “Department” means the Department of Insurance.
(c)CA Insurance Code § 14001(c) “Licensee” means a person licensed under this chapter.
(d)CA Insurance Code § 14001(d) “Manager” means the individual under whose direction, control, charge, or management the business of a licensee is operated.
(e)CA Insurance Code § 14001(e) “Person” includes any individual, firm, company, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, and corporation.

Section § 14002

Explanation

This section makes it clear that no one is allowed to practice law in California unless they are actively registered as a member of the State Bar of California.

Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as entitling any person to practice law in this state, unless he is an active member of the State Bar of California.
