Mobilehome Parks ActFindings and Purposes
Section § 18250
This section of the law acknowledges that many Californians live in manufactured homes within mobilehome parks. Moving these homes is costly, leading to long-term residence in these parks. As such, residents deserve living conditions that ensure their health and safety, protect their substantial financial investment, and maintain a decent living environment.
Section § 18251
Section § 18252
This law emphasizes the need for flexible and timely updates to regulations concerning mobile home parks. Instead of sticking to fixed standards, it's important to remove obsolete rules and introduce new ones that enhance the health, safety, and well-being of park residents, as well as incorporating modern technologies.
Section § 18253
This law states that the rules for building, maintaining, using, and designing parks should be created by a specific department. This approach ensures that changes can be made quickly and in a way that meets the needs of both people living in and owning the parks.
Section § 18253.5
This law requires that each mobile home park in California display a sign with the contact details of the Mobilehome Assistance Center, placed prominently in the park. The sign helps residents know how to reach out for assistance.
Enforcement of this requirement can happen through phone or written complaints, or during inspections related to other issues, but not every park has to be inspected solely for sign compliance. If a park fails to post the sign, it counts as a minor legal infraction.
Section § 18254
This law focuses on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of people living in mobilehome parks. It allows for adjustments to regulations to meet specific criteria while maintaining or exceeding the protection levels set before 1978.
