Miscellaneous RequirementsChlorofluorocarbons
Section § 119150
This law prohibits the manufacture and sale of certain products with a specific type of aerosol propellant known as saturated chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) without hydrogen. From October 15, 1978, these CFCs cannot be manufactured for use in aerosol cans in California. From December 15, 1978, manufacturing of containers meant to use these CFCs is banned. From April 15, 1979, selling any container using these CFCs is also prohibited.
Section § 119155
This law allows the manufacture or sale of saturated chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that don’t contain hydrogen for uses that are exempt under current or future federal regulations. It means that even if other parts of the chapter limit these activities, this specific allowance remains in place as long as federal rules permit it.
Section § 119160
This section explains that two specific parts of an earlier law (Section 119150) will no longer apply if a new federal law or regulation is created that bans the making of aerosol products using certain types of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) without hydrogen. It specifically refers to CFCs used as a propellant in aerosol cans or containers.
