Section § 40200

Explanation

This law allows a city's legislative body to conduct its own census in the years between the federal census. The results of this local census must be confirmed by the Demographic Research Unit of the Department of Finance.

Pursuant to this article, the legislative body may take a census of the city between the years of taking the federal census. That census shall be validated by the Demographic Research Unit of the Department of Finance.

Section § 40201

Section § 40204

Explanation

This law explains that once a city census is completed, it must be verified in front of someone who is legally allowed to oversee oaths, and then it should be submitted to the city clerk.

When completed, the census shall be verified before any officer authorized to administer oaths, and filed with the city clerk.

When the clerk receives a verified census, they must make a certified copy of it. This certified copy then becomes the city's official census record.

Upon receipt of the verified census, the clerk shall make a certified copy. Thereafter it is the official census of the city.
