Section § 6599.21

Explanation

This law states that an authority can only cover risks if the liability from a single event costs more than $1 million. However, they are not allowed to cover more than $25 million for a single event.

The authority may only cover risks to the extent that liability on any one occurrence exceeds one million dollars ($1,000,000), and may not provide coverage for any amount of liability on any one occurrence which exceeds twenty-five million dollars ($25,000,000).

Section § 6599.22

Explanation

This law allows the authority to set limits on coverage for its members. However, these limits must fall within the range specified in the previous section; they cannot be lower or higher than those established minimum and maximum limits.

The authority may establish limits on coverage for a member or category of members, but those limits may neither be less than the minimum nor more than the maximum limits established by Section 6599.21.

Section § 6599.23

Explanation

This law allows a local agency to request specific coverage amounts from an authority, as long as those amounts are within the minimum and maximum limits already set by another regulation.

A local agency requesting membership from the authority may request coverage in any sum, so long as the coverage requested is neither less than the minimum nor more than the maximum limits established by Section 6599.21.
