Section § 7250

Explanation

This law applies to any building or facility that is owned, leased, run, or overseen by any government level in California, and that is typically accessible to the public.

The provisions of this chapter apply to all buildings or other facilities owned, leased, operated or managed by the state, county, city and county, district, or other political subdivision and which are usually or regularly open to the members of the public.

Section § 7251

Explanation

This law states that buildings with special toilet facilities accessible for people using wheelchairs or those who are handicapped must clearly post signs showing where these facilities are located. The signs should be placed in the building directory, the main lobby, or at any entrance specially used by handicapped individuals.

When a building contains special toilet facilities usable by a person in a wheelchair or otherwise handicapped, a sign indicating the location of such facilities shall be posted in the building directory, in the main lobby, or at any entrance specially used by handicapped persons.

Section § 7252

Explanation

If a building has an entrance for handicapped persons that's not the main entrance, there must be a sign near the main entrance showing where this accessible entrance is located. The sign should be visible from the nearby public sidewalk or path.

When a building contains an entrance other than the main entrance which is ramped or level for use by handicapped persons, a sign showing its location shall be posted at or near the main entrance which shall be visible from the adjacent public sidewalk or way.
