Expenditures
Section § 13220
This section outlines how the money in the Fish and Game Preservation Fund can be used, starting from the 2005-06 fiscal year, unless another section specifies otherwise. The funds can be spent on three main things: giving refunds for money wrongly put in the fund, covering expenses related to protecting wildlife, and paying the salaries and expenses of the commission's employees.
Section § 13230
This law outlines how specific funds are used for oil and hazardous material spill response and restoration in California. The Oil Pollution Administration Subaccount can only be spent on activities related to pollution response that aren't covered by other laws, and requires legislative approval. The Oil Pollution Response and Restoration Subaccount allows for ongoing use of funds for addressing oil spills without yearly approvals. The Hazardous Materials Administration Subaccount is used for managing hazardous material response and staffing, also requiring legislative approval. The Hazardous Materials Response and Restoration Subaccount provides continuous funding for dealing with spills affecting land, water, and wildlife, without creating new positions.
Section § 13231
This law requires the department to keep a detailed record of how much it spends on each specific activity or program that uses funds from certain subaccounts.
