Chapter 3Negotiation and Approval of Agreement
Section § 16006
This law allows the department, with the commission's approval, to make agreements or compacts with the Covelo Indian Community. These agreements would cover how traditional Indian subsistence fishing is regulated along the streams that were part of the 1873 Round Valley Indian Reservation.
Section § 16007
If there's an agreement made under Section 16006, it must be reviewed and approved by the commission after being submitted by the department.
Section § 16008
For any agreement made under Section 16006 to become valid, it must first be approved by the commission. They can approve it during their usual or special meetings.
Section § 16009
This law requires the commission to inform the public in advance about meetings where they will discuss or approve agreements made under this division. The notice must be published in the Resources Agency or department's publication, and copies of the proposed agreements should be available to the public if requested. Additionally, these meetings must be open to the public.
