Section § 6080

Explanation

If you're a candidate trying to qualify under certain conditions, or if you're leading a group wanting an uncommitted delegation, you need to set up a steering committee. This committee should have seven members, and one of them must be appointed as the chairperson.

Each candidate who seeks to qualify under Article 4 (commencing with Section 6060) and each group proposing an uncommitted delegation shall appoint a steering committee of seven members and shall appoint one of the members to serve as the chairperson.

Section § 6081

Explanation

This law requires the chairperson of a steering committee to submit a document to the Secretary of State listing the names and addresses of all committee members. This needs to be done at least 82 days before the presidential primary election.

The chairperson of a steering committee, at least 82 days prior to the presidential primary, shall file with the Secretary of State a statement containing the names and addresses of the members of the steering committee.
