Section § 35270.5

Explanation

This law allows a school district's governing board to take private property, if needed, through eminent domain to fulfill their responsibilities or carry out their functions.

The governing board of any school district may acquire by eminent domain any property necessary to carry out any of the powers or functions of the district.

Section § 35271

Explanation

This law allows school districts to buy property, build, and hold classes just outside their own area if the new sites are right next to their current ones. It has been in effect since June 30, 1993.

(a)CA Education Code § 35271(a) The governing board of any school district may acquire property, construct buildings, and maintain classes outside its boundaries on sites immediately adjacent to school sites of the district within its boundaries.
(b)CA Education Code § 35271(b) This section shall become operative June 30, 1993.

Section § 35272

Explanation

This law allows the governing board of any school district to buy and pay for all the items needed to run its schools, such as educational tools, sports equipment, and other supplies, as long as it's in line with the law.

The governing board of any school district may acquire and pay for educational and athletic equipment, supplies and materials, and other personal property necessary to its operation of the schools, as provided by law.

Section § 35275

Explanation

This law requires that the school district board meet with local government recreation and park officials. The purpose of the meeting is to find ways to work together on planning, designing, and building new school and recreational facilities, or adding on to existing ones, in the community.

The governing board of any school district shall meet with appropriate local government recreation and park authorities to review all possible methods of coordinating planning, design, and construction of new school facilities and schoolsites or major additions to existing school facilities and recreation and park facilities in the community.
