Section § 33360

Explanation

This law allows the Department of Education and certain school board associations in California to hold annual workshops. These workshops cover topics like school finance, relevant laws, and the responsibilities and ethics associated with school boards. Participants can be charged a fee that covers the cost of these workshops.

The Department of Education and a statewide association composed exclusively of school district governing boards or county boards of education, or both, acting jointly, may conduct annual workshops within this state. Such workshops shall include but are not limited to study and instruction on the subjects of school finance, the Education Code and related laws, and the ethics, duties, and responsibilities of school district governing boards and county boards of education. A reasonable fee not to exceed the estimated pro rata cost of the workshop may be charged board members and members-elect who attend.

Section § 33362

Explanation

If you are a current or future member of a school district board and you attend and complete a workshop that is approved by this law, you can get reimbursed for your expenses based on the guidelines mentioned in another section.

Any member or member-elect of a school district governing board who attends and successfully completes a workshop as authorized by this article may be reimbursed for expenses as provided for in Section 35173.

Section § 33363

Explanation
If you're a current or soon-to-be member of a county board of education, you can get your expenses covered when you go to and complete an approved workshop.
Any member or member-elect of a county board of education who attends and successfully completes a workshop as authorized by this article may be reimbursed for expenses as provided for in Section 1096.
