Article 3Consolidation of Elections
Section § 5340
If elections for school district or community college board members are scheduled on the same day in the same area, they must be combined so voters can use one ballot. The county superintendent of schools must inform the relevant boards at least 130 days before the election that they need to consolidate their elections, and the elementary district will serve as the basic unit for these combined elections.
Section § 5342
If a school or community college district election is set to happen on the same day and area as another election, like a city or county election, they can be combined. This combination happens if the officials running the elections get resolutions from the relevant areas 88 days before the election date.
Section § 5343
Section § 5344
When multiple elections are combined within the same area, voting procedures like precincts, polling places, and hours must remain consistent. There will only be one team of election officers per precinct. If the election results need to be reviewed by different groups, each election will still be run separately, as if they weren't combined, except as specified here.
Section § 5345
If a school district election or community college district election is combined with another election, the rules for marking ballots in the other election will also apply to the merged district election.
