Article 2Unified School Districts
Section § 18310
This law explains that a unified school district has the same responsibilities as a union high school district. It also outlines how a library district can be established within a unified school district. To create this library district, at least 50 residents and taxpayers must apply, followed by a successful election. If enough people vote in favor, the library district will be officially set up and governed by the school district's existing board.
Section § 18311
This law clarifies that in the context of this chapter, when you see 'union high school district' or 'union high school,' it can also mean a 'unified school district' or refer to actions in a unified school district. Basically, these terms are interchangeable here.
Section § 18312
If within a union high school library district's area, two or more unified school districts are formed, the library district becomes a unified school district library district. The unified school district that covers the largest part of the library district will manage it.
