Section § 14000

Explanation

This section states that if terms are defined in this division of the code, those definitions do not apply to how the same terms are interpreted in other divisions of the code.

Definitions in this division shall not affect the construction of the same terms in any other division of this code.

Section § 14001

Explanation

In this law, the term "person" includes not only individual people but also groups like associations, organizations, partnerships, business trusts, LLCs, and corporations.

As used in this division, “person” means any person, association, organization, partnership, business trust, limited liability company, or corporation.

Section § 14002

Explanation

This law states that if there's anything that a person is allowed to do or must do under this division, that thing can also be done by or to that person's agent. This is true unless it clearly says otherwise.

Every act which, according to this division, may be done by or to any person, may be done by or to the agent of such person for that purpose, unless a contrary intention clearly appears.

Section § 14003

Explanation

This law defines a "trade union" in California as any trade union, labor organization, or labor association in the state, regardless of whether it is incorporated.

As used in this division, “trade union” means any trade union, labor organization, or labor association, organized and existing in this State, whether incorporated or not.

Section § 14004

Explanation

This law states that the rules for registering and using trademarks by trade unions in the Business and Professions Code are in addition to, and do not restrict, the rules in the Labor Code about the same subject.

The provisions of this code for the registration and use of trade-marks by trade unions are cumulative to, and are not a limitation upon, the provisions of the Labor Code relating to the same subject.
