Section § 54

Explanation

This section allows students under 18 who attend California public high schools to serve on certain boards or commissions that have other young members. Basically, if a board or commission is set up to include students or minors, these young people can take part even though they're not adults yet.

Notwithstanding Section 1020 of the Government Code, any pupil attending a California public secondary school who is under the age of 18 years may serve on any board or commission established pursuant to this title or Title 2 (commencing with Section 33000) that includes members who are pupils or minors.
