Explanation
If someone's illegal actions or failure to act causes harm to you, you can receive money from them to make up for the harm. This money is called damages.
Every person who suffers detriment from the unlawful act or omission of another, may recover from the person in fault a compensation therefor in money, which is called damages.

Detriment means any kind of loss or harm that a person or their belongings might experience.

Detriment is a loss or harm suffered in person or property.

Explanation

This law allows a court to award damages not only for harm that has already happened, but also for harm that is expected to happen in the future because of the current case.

Damages may be awarded, in a judicial proceeding, for detriment resulting after the commencement thereof, or certain to result in the future.
