Land SurveyorsPhotogrammetry
Section § 8775
This law says you can only call yourself a photogrammetrist or photogrammetric surveyor, or use any abbreviations of those titles, if you are officially registered as a civil engineer, a licensed land surveyor, or if you have a license specifically as a photogrammetric surveyor.
Section § 8775.1
This law allows qualified individuals to provide photogrammetric services, which involve measuring and mapping from photographs, as long as they follow certain rules. Specifically, any field surveys must be done by a registered civil engineer or a licensed land surveyor. If creating topographic maps that outline property corners or boundaries, the work must be certified by one of these registered professionals.
Section § 8775.2
If a licensed photogrammetric surveyor prepares maps, documents, or reports, they must include their signature and certificate number to show they take responsibility for the work.
Section § 8775.3
If you have a photogrammetric surveyor license in California, you can renew it by paying a designated fee set by the board. The cost is the same as renewing a land surveyor's license. Additionally, the rules about money matters and disciplinary actions for land surveyors also apply to photogrammetric surveyors.
